Stephan Welz & Co. in Association with Sotheby's had their most recent Decorative & Fine Arts, and Jewels sale on 21 & 22 November 2005 at 13 Biermann Avenue,  Rosebank,  Johannesburg.

The sale included works by the regular artists with a strong secondary market like Hugo Naude, Preller, Maggie Laubser, Mohl,  Sekoto,  Battiss,  Boshoff and Pierneef. In the 'contemporary' section works by William Kentridge, Norman Catherine, Robert Hodgins, Willie Bester, David Brown and others were on offer.

The auction results confirmed that values of quality works by artists like Preller, Laubser and Pierneef are still escalating.  LOT 429, Anne Bathing, an etching edition of 12 by William Kentridge sold for R 44 000. ( estimate R 8 000-12 000 )
