The first Johannesburg Sotheby's Decorative and Fine Arts sale took place on the 18,19 & 20 April 2005 at their Gallery, 13 Biermann Avenue, Rosebank. The sale was well
attended. Session one, Monday 18 April at 8pm - Lot 1 - 200 covered 24
lots of International works of art and works by artists like Sekoto, Van Essche,
Mohl,
Battiss, Boshoff, Naude and Pierneef. In the contemporary and modern art
section there were no less than four works by artist William Kentridge. Robert Hodgins and Willie Bester were again
represented. Prices
for quality works were overall high. |
