The first Johannesburg Sotheby's Fine Art sale, comprising of 621 lots, took place on the 31st May 2004.
During the recent Cape Town Auction in April 2004 there was a marked
shift in the demand for the work by certain artists whose
work usually fetch high prices. Works by artists like Battiss, Rose-Innes and Adriaan Boshoff,
George Pemba and
contemporary works by Norman Catherine and Willie Bester were in high demand
resulting in high prices. |
