The exhibition will explore her usual themes of people and place, the individual and society, and the landscapes and objects with which we live. Sometimes metaphorical, sometimes simple statements of light and mood, her work communicates what lies beneath the apparent surface. This realism cannot be categorised, evolving as it does out of a mixture of observation and imagination. The exhibition will reflect the two realities of first and third world, Germany and South Africa, both their societies and physical environments.

For the first time a major work by Johannes Phokela will be on view at the Gallery.
