This week yet another magnificent book on the South African artist
William Kentridge was released in
South Africa. This glossy illustrated 348 page book must be the
ultimate of what has been written and done on the artist up to date.
The book also serves as the Museum Catalogue for the the current
International Touring exhibition of William Kentridge. The book was put
together as a combined effort by the Museum of Contemporary Art,
Chicago and the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York with
input from some leading specialists like Neal Benezra, Staci
Boris, Dan Cameron, Lynne Cooke and our own Ari Sitas of the
University of Natal. Published by Harry N. Abrams, Inc. New York with the ISBN
0-8109-4228-3. Kentridge created a remarkable new work : a sixteen-page procession of figures marching across the opening pages especially for the book. |
